The above pictures are of a Faux throw I saw Sandra Betzina on American Sews one weekend and she was showing how to make this type of throw. I used a low nape burgandy faux fur for one side and a off white fleece on the other side. The binding is a cotton home dec print that goes well with both colors. I did some random machine stitching on the binding I liked the look. The Fabrics are some that I have had in my stash for years.
The blanket is some of the Indian wool blanket fabric that Fabric.com had for $9.85 the last few months. I sergered the edges using a wooly nylon in both loopers and regular thread in the needle.
The above pants are made from Sandra Betzina's Butterick pattern 3439 in some linen/rayon blend I got at Joann for $1.49 a yard. I have made these pants twice so far, the first pair I ended up becoming a wadder made out of some rayon/poly blend fabric that snagged after the second wearing. I want to made up the shirt in this pattern from some red linen/rayon blend I got at Joann's at the same time.
I am planning on making more of these pants. I am planning on making some out of a black linen. Someone on Sewing World made the remark that we need black pants in every type of fabric. Well I have now made the black tweed linen blend and black matt jersey, plan on making several other black pants.
I made this shirt up out of some ramie/cotton I got at Joann's for a muslin to test out the pattern. I have some tan linen to use for the next one a little tamer than the purple I used for the muslin. This shirt is very over size i wanted and over size shirt to wear over some shell in the fall.
I was making the straight hem version with the slits in the sides and in shorting it I would loose the slits. At this point I decide to do some redesigning to get a wearable muslin out of it. I cut off about 2" and changed the slits to a the seam allowances instead of the 1 1/2 inche I lengthen the slits by 5 inches and add a decorative tab on the sides to close the slits and added a button. I like this detail I saw a shirt someone was wearing that had this detail. I noticed that the buttons are not spaced evenly I guess I miss it when marking them.
I made this sweater set out of some sweater knit fabric I got from fabric Mart for 2.00 a yard this one is really a wearable muslin for my 29 year old daughter. The only alternation I made was to increase the sleeve by 1/2 I was afraid it would be too tight for her.
The fabric is some off white sweater knit fabric the fabric was different to sew with but not hard.
I have read several other reviews on www.patternreview.com and comments on this dress pattern. I made one up for my 29 year old daughter to wear to a wedding in October that will be outside. The dress is the sleeves version. I am going to made her a cardigan to wear over it soon. The pattern is simple and takes about 45mintes to sew together and other 30 mintes tracing off the size for her a very quick pattern to sew up. The alternations I made was I trace off a small for the top of the dress a curved it down to a medium for the hips. My daughter is small in the bust and round in the hips.
I made my granddaughters some tops from kwik sew 3055 I have made this pattern before for the old girl back in April. Checkout the earlier review on Patternreview.com
